The major phenanthrene-degrading bacteria cultured by the traditional enrichment method were Pseudomonas. The major phenanthrene-degrading bacteria cultured using SSMS were Sphingomonas. The SSMS method is much more suitable for phenanthrene-degrading bacteria than the traditional enrichment method.
