Transparent platinum counter electrode for efficient semi-transparent dye-sensitized solar cells

Counter electrode (CE) prepared by spraying nanoparticle (NP) Pt on hot substrate.

Low cost and scalable fabrication process of CE.

The spray deposited CE uses 10 times less Pt compared to the sputtering method.

The CE is 80% transparent and exhibits a large surface and high catalytic activity.

A semitransparent dye-sensitized solar cell with Pt NP CE was 6.17% efficient.
