Smokers in substance use disorders treatment were compared with successful quitters. Health concerns and smoking cessation in treatment plans were significantly related to quitting. Participants in methadone treatment reported quitting less than those in outpatient. Practical strategies are needed to improve smoking quit rates in addictions treatment.
