Dark carrier dynamics and electrical characteristics of organic solar cells integrated with Ag-SiO2 core-shell nanoparticles

The origin of fill factor increases in plasmonic organic solar cells is investigated. Modified ZnO device with Ag/SiO2 NPs induce dopants or trap states in the dark. Impedance spectroscopy reveals short-lived and high mobility dark carriers. The resultant short-lived and shallow traps reduce recombination. Improved charge transport and extraction led to increase in fill factor.
