This article explores how a multi-national company, with more than one hundred subsidiaries, has developed a Code of Conduct for the transfer of personal data from within the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) to countries outside the EU/EEA. It shows how effective such codes can be in incorporating understanding of the different national rules on data protection in what is a complex management process.
