A novel rhodamine based 2-guanidinobenzimidazole functionalized probe was presented for tetravalent tin. The probe exhibited special selectivity, sensitivity, photostability and anti-interference performance at physiological range. The mechanism was investigated both experimentally and computationally. The probe was a promising candidate for mapping tetravalent tin in living cells.
