Guidance about the assessment of structural fire safety of existing buildings during a fire. Tests required for characterization of existing protective systems (in situ or in laboratory). Test procedure applied to an existing steel structure protected with intumescent coatings. For tests on existing intumescent coatings, the need to standardize the procedures is highlighted. The results of fire tests are also useful for the calibration of the thermal conductivity of intumescent coatings.
