The release of antibiotic resistance from WWTP effluents was quantified. Antibiotic resistance to sulfonamides was higher than that to tetracyclines. intI1 was closely involved in the dissemination of ARGs in WWTPs. Disinfection played an important role in eliminating antibiotic resistance. Ozone was less effective in reducing antibiotic resistance than UV and chlorine.
