A yellow pigment, Bi4Zr3O12, was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method. The color properties of the samples were characterized using the CIE L*a*b*Ch° system. The most vivid yellow color was obtained for the sample synthesized at 800 °C for 6 h in air. The yellowness value (+b*) of Bi4Zr3O12 was 68.8. A warmer yellow color was obtained for Bi4Zr3O12 than those of the conventional yellow pigments.
