The 12-h training effects of BMAA, a contemplative practice, on EFs were tested.

BMAA improved working memory capacity more than Chan meditation (active control).

BMAA excelled a control group in working memory capacity and sustained attention.

Chan-meditation was best for a control group on attentional switching at posttest.

Both trainings increased mindfulness; while the control did not.
