This document is intended to: Summarize information regarding the biologic underpinnings of chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Identify critical gaps in our understanding of chronic GVHD. Develop working hypotheses/overriding concepts for chronic GVHD development. Highlight the utility and limitations of preclinical models of chronic GVHD and define criteria for the creation of new models to address limitations. Create a platform for developing innovative clinical strategies for the prevention and treatment of chronic GVHD.
