A tool wear simulation framework is introduced to support tool and process design. The tool wear simulation framework has been extended for coated tools. The interaction of worn geometry and chip formation is accounted for. A method to avoid numerical errors as a consequence of node displacement has been introduced. Experimental validation of the proposed approach.
