Acetylated glucuronoarabinoxylans (GAX) were successfully isolated from sugarcane bagasse and straw.

Empirical model for the molecular structure of GAX’s in sugarcane is developed.
•
GAX’s in sugarcane bagasse has a higher degree of acetylation then in sugarcane straw.
•
Alteration in the substitution pattern of GAX’s modulate their conformation.
