Fixed spaced shock blocks spinally-mediated central sensitization through BDNF. BDNF inhibits the development of spinally-mediated central sensitization after SCI. Acute spinal cord injury induces a qualitative shift in how BDNF affects nociceptive transmission. SCI modifies how BDNF affects the Cl− co-transporter KCC2 and GABAergic inhibition.
