Synthesis of modified gum tragacanth/graphene oxide composite hydrogel for heavy metal ions removal and preparation of silver nanocomposite for antibacterial activity

Composite hydrogels were synthesized from Tragacanth gum and graphene oxide. Hydrogels were characterized by FT-IR, FE-SEM, EDS, XRD, and TGA. Adsorption capacity was 142.50, 112.50 and 132.12 mg g−1for Pb(II), Cd(II), and Ag(I). Adsorbed Ag(I) ions in hydrogel were transformed to Ag0 nanoparticles by flower extract. Antibacterial performance of hydrogel containing Ag0 nanoparticles was examined.
