Cash can support and improve children's care and wellbeing. Work requirements can lead to adverse effects in terms of children's care. Transfer size and regularity of payment are crucial for positive impacts. Sensitisation can promote positive psychosocial and behavioural effects. The role of social workers in cash transfer programmes should be appropriate.
