A systematic approach to selecting and comparing solvent mixtures for NARFB is presented. The approach enables easy extrapolation from binary to ternary solvent mixtures. Species solubility, solution conductivity and reaction rates are the three employed decision variables. Active species solubility results emphasize the role of preferential solvation. 84/16 vol% acetonitrile/1,3 dioxolane mixture gives optimum reaction rate in a V(acac)3 NARFB.
