Artificial substrates are increasingly being used as a non-destructive method to investigate organism level recruitment and growth on coral reefs. Community level data obtained from different artificial substrates deployed within the same reef habitats were significantly different between treatments. When modelling data from artificial substrates adjust for inherent biases of each method and if possible ground truth data.
