We studied the Lake George ring complex which is part of the Pikes Peak batholith.

Our new U–Pb ages show that the Lake George ring complex started to form at 1115 Ma.

New U–Pb ages also indicate that the Lake George ring complex formed over ⩾27 My.

Our new Hf isotopic data indicate sequential tapping of mantle and crustal sources.

This study calls for a general reassessment of Pikes Peak batholith emplacement age.
