Varieties of chiral, bridged bisimidazolium salts as well as the synthesis of palladium complexes of general formula 1"">1&_mathId=mml1&_user=10&_cdi=5265&_rdoc=20&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_userid=10&md5=855d848889a5e7aaf4ecfd52b8e558ce"">1-2/0?wchp=dGLzVzz-zSkWW"" alt=""Click to view the MathML source"" align=""absbottom"" border=""0"" height=20 width=268> with the corresponding chelating N-heterocyclic carbene ligands is reported. This is the first systematic study of chiral bis(imidazolin-2-ylidene)palladium(II) complexes bearing chiral groups on the endocyclic nitrogens. Structural proof of such a chiral palladium(II) complex is presented by way of an X-ray diffraction study of complex 3a.
