Cdc42 is required for embryonic heart development. Deletion of Cdc42 in cardiomyocytes resulted in ventricular septal defect and thin ventricle wall. Inactivation of Cdc42 impaired cardiomyocyte proliferation. Cdc42 plays an indispensable role in cardiomyocyte adherens junctions formation.
