Synthesis of citric acid crosslinked CMC hydrogels & their bentonite composite.

Hydrogel composites showed pH sensitive water absorbency & viscoelastic properties.

Thiamethoxam was loaded in the composites with high encapsulation efficiency.

Release of thiamethoxam from composites was enhanced in alkaline pH condition.
