•: Molecularly imprinted polymers have been used for hydroxylated CB/BDE separation.
•: Full separation of PCDD/F, PBDD/F from PCBs, PBDE and its MeO-forms was obtained.
•: UPLC–TOF-MS was used for OH-CB/BDE determination.
•: Acceptable recovery rates and limits of quantification were obtained.
