Effects of condensed tannin fractions of different molecular weights on population and diversity of bovine rumen methanogenic archaea in vitro, as determined by high-throughput sequencing
We determined the effects of condensed tannin (CT) fractions on rumen archaea diversity.
•
CTs of different molecular weights (MWs) alter the population and diversity of rumen archaea.
•
Methanobrevibacter population decreased with increasing MWs of CTs.
•
Population of unclassified Thermoplasmata increased with increasing MWs of CTs.
•
Higher MWs of CT fractions could reduce ruminal CH4 emission more effectively.
