•: Monolayers of microspheres are grown by Langmuir–Blodgett technique.
•: The spheres are made of polystyrene, the substrates are in quartz, BK7 glass, or Si.
•: The monolayers are covered with a metallic film (Au or Ag) by thermal evaporation.
•: Long-range arrays of prismatoid metal structures remain after removal of monolayer.
•: Laser dewetting of such long-range arrays of metal structures is presented and discussed.
