Three alkynylplatinum(II) terpyridine complexes display high affinity for G-quadruplex. The three complexes induce the formation of G-quadruplex in the absence of Na+ or K+. The affinity of complexes for G-quadruplex decreases under molecular crowding condition. The three complexes exhibit higher cytotoxicity against cancer cells than cisplatin.
