Exposure to multiple advanced practice roles influenced student career goals. Clinically based mentors promote the scientific foundation for nursing practice. Students chose to continue summer research projects in their academic programs. Research productivity of mentors was enhanced by collaboration with students. The undergraduate research fellowship program is a significant recruitment tool.
