•: The occurrence of Diarrheagenic E. coli strains in raw kibbe samples was assessed.
•: Only two STEC strains were found (O125:H19 and O149:H8 serotypes).
•: Both strains had the lpf_O113 and stx_1c genes and one had the EAST-1 toxin.
•: The two strains showed an ability to adhere to epithelial cells cultured in vitro.
•: The two STEC serotypes isolated were probably described for the first time in foods.
