Drosophila Chitinase (Cht) 2 is expressed in cuticle forming organs. Cht2 is localized in the cuticle assembly zone. Cht2 is present in the lamellate chitin-matrix. Cht2 knockdown larvae show defective cuticle thickening. Cht2 knockdown larvae show defective cuticle pore canal organization.
