The synthesis of the first terphenyl-based sodium phosphanide, namely DmpP(H)Na (1) (Dmp=2,6-dimesitylphenyl) as well as the X-ray crystal structure determination of a crown ether adduct of the sodium salt, namely DmpP(H)Na(15-crown-5) (2) are reported.
