•: DMBR with 53 μm pore size support layer was operated 100 days without cleaning at fluxes of 23–29 LMH.
•: Decolorization efficiency reached 97% at aeration on/off duration of 1/15 min.
•: DMBR operated well with aeration on/off durations of 5/3 min and 1/10 min.
•: DMBR performance decreased at longer unaerated durations.
•: Ca, P, Mg, S, Si, Fe, Cr and Al were detected in the dynamic membrane layer.
