Vegetable oils outperformed ethanol as entrainer for the supercritical CO2 extraction of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from Schizochytrium limacinum. Lipid products containing DHA were directly derived from current supercritical CO2 extraction, and the fatty acid profile in the lipid product could be adjusted by selecting certain vegetable oil.
