Immune activation is linked with dysregulation of tryptophan metabolism. Accelerated tryptophan breakdown is associated with various immune disorders. Serum tryptophan breakdown allows to monitor the activity of a variety of diseases. Measurement of Kyn/Trp can be applied to personalize treatments. Measurement of Kyn/Trp can be used to guide psychiatric interventions.
