Dry season of downstream wetlands came early after impoundment of Three-Gorges Dam. Early dry season caused expanding of Phalaris to mudflat zone in Poyang Lake. Early dry season caused expanding of Carex and Phalaris in Dongting Lake. It did not cause significant changes in landscape level landscape indices. It caused significant changes in some habitat class level landscape indices.
