Design and fabrication of a polymer micro ring resonator with novel optical material at add/drop geometry using laser beam direct write lithography technique

In this article for the first time, we describe our work on design, fabrication and characteristic of a polymer Micro Ring Resonator with novel materials which are very fascinating material for electro-optic application and now a days would be interested candidate in Micro Ring Resonator field in the add/drop geometry. This device has been constructed by laser beam direct write lithography technique (LBL) with the resolution of 1 ¦Ìm. We used ORMOCORE and ORMOCLAD for fabricating a micro ring resonator due to its very low losses at wavelengths 1550 nm and 1300 nm. This resonator is characterized for a laser at 1550 nm and by means of a tapered fiber to couple light into the bus waveguide and received the signal from the output port of the waveguide using another tapered fiber. The signal has been monitored using an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) and we have shown which a micro ring resonator work like an add/drop filter has been constructed. This polymer micro ring resonator in the laterally coupled geometry for wavelength 1550 nm have band width (¦¤¦Ë) 0.3 nm, free spectral range of 0.8 nm, finesse of 2.6.
