The effect of temperature on the evolution of eutectic carbides and M7C3 → M23C6 carbides reaction in the rapidly solidified Fe-Cr-C alloy

The hypoeutectic suction cast rod from the Fe-Cr-C alloy was investigated. Rapid solidification allow to obtain nonequilibrium M7C3 in place of M23C6. Evidence of the M7C3 → M23C6 transformation have been shown. Evolution of eutectic carbides morphology after annealing was determined. The carbide transformation enhances the coalescence process of rod like carbides.
