Effect of ambient temperature on evaporative water loss (EWL) in Ctenomys talarum.
•
EWL is stable, but above thermoneutrality augments as ambient temperature increases.
•
EWL contributes to total heat loss, but also dry thermal conductance.
•
Body temperature is regulated by non-evaporative and evaporative mechanisms.
•
Overheating is prevented at high ambient temperatures.
