Effects of pot-in-pot production system on water consumption, stem diameter variations and photochemical efficiency of spindle tree irrigated with saline water
Pot-in-pot (PIP) prevented a fall in the photosynthesis rate in saline conditions.
•
PIP maintained a lower substrate temperature than above-ground-pot (AGP).
•
Evapotranspiration was greater in AGP than in PIP.
•
The PIP system produced a greater leaching fraction than AGP.
•
The PIP system improved spindle tree tolerance to salinity.
