Prospective attributional LCA was used to assess impacts of future dairy systems. Scenarios comprised increased N fertilizer, pasture utilization and off-farm feeds. Environmental trade-offs existed between farm intensification methods. Impacts were lower with improved animal productivity and pasture-use efficiency.
