Previous research reported overgeneralization of fear of pain in fibromyalgia (FM). FM patients showed overgeneralization of pain expectancy but not pain-related fear. Responses to novel movements (GSs) resembling the safe movement were higher in FM. Responses to GSs declined during extinction, but remained higher for FM. Fear of GSs despite corrective feedback may maintain chronic pain disability.
