APG nanofibers can be coated in mesoporous SiO2 with a tunable thickness. The SiO2 coating aids in dispersion and stabilization of APG fibers in aqueous media. Sodium borosilicate glass can be produced through an accelerated sol-gel process. Homogeneous NBS/APG composites can be produced with up to 40 wt.% APG.
