Benzophenone-based chemosensor for Sn2 + has been synthesized. Specific selectivity and superiority of our fluorophore over the only reported fluorophore for Sn2 + ion sensing (along interference of Al3 +ion) is explained. Sn2 + recognition was investigated by spectroscopic techniques and DFT study.
