Stable salt double fortified with iodine and folic acid was developed. A single spray solution may be used to fortify salt with iodine and folic acid. Method does not require change in existing salt iodization equipment or procedures. Folic acid is solubilized and stabilized by adjusting the spray solution to pH 9 with a carbonate buffer. Retention of folic acid and iodine in salt is >80% and >90% after 12 months.
