Simplified model for analytical expressions for the temperature field is applied. Information transport from the work piece inside to the surface is investigated. Surface temperature during laser welding is characterized by geometrical quantities. Characterizing surface quantities are derived analytically in two limit regions. General scaling behavior of the quantities are confirmed by experiments.
