The negotiations about whether CCS should be included in the CDM are analyzed. The characteristics of the paradigm of ecological modernization are elaborated. CCS-conflicts are discussed in relation to the paradigm of ecological modernization. The status quo of CCS’s political significance is assessed. Possible re- and/or depoliticizing impacts of conflicts over CCS are considered.
