Geothermal gradient evolution is featured by “one increase and one decrease”. Galedesi Formation is the most important source rock in the South Qilian Basin. Maturity of Galedesi Formation is controlled by the Jurassic geothermal fields. Gas source of the gas hydrates comes from the Upper Triassic Galedesi Formation. The South Qilian Basin is also a potential oil and gas basin.
