Discontinuous Galerkin method for advection of compositional fields in mantle convection. Bound preserving limiter is used to maintain sharp boundaries (<0.02% overshoot). Falling box benchmark is used to demonstrate the method. Results are compared to a finite element method using entropy-viscosity stabilization. Can be used in 2-D and 3-D: when applied AMR, provides highly resolved boundaries.
