Daylight glare evaluated with the sun in the field of view through window shades. New thresholds suggested for direct and total vertical illuminance and DGP. A modified DGP equation is proposed for roller shades with the sun visible. A new illuminance-based metric is developed for glare through roller shades. Findings allow design guidelines for shade properties and glare-based controls .
