A new, freely available software (GENSI) to collect ego-centered network data is introduced. A survey experiment indicates that GENSI increases enjoyment of survey respondents. There is less affirmative answering with GENSI, which previous research identified as a problem. Another manipulation, giving immediate feedback about the network, reduced data quality.
