The cells death of keratinocytes and reduction of corneous layer cause capecitabine-induced HFS. Capecitabine evoke HFS through mitochondria dysfunction that activating caspase-dependent apoptosis. An alternative hypothesis concentrated on skelemin or ionic channel may be more appropriate to explain capecitabine-induced HFS.
